PSYNCIN' IN THE CHaiN is a dreamworld featured in AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES.
It is a Somnium world created from Kaname Date's dream by the Prototype Psync Machine. Saito Sejima entered this Somnium to swap bodies with Date.
Mental Locks[]
Despite appearing as the final Somnium in the entire game, it is quite easy to clear. Since this Somnium represents the state of Date being Psynced by Saito, time will not pass as the player moves on the map, and all options that appear will only consume 0s or 60s, depending on whether to advance the story progress. Performing 6 options that consume 60s and 4 options that consume 0s to clear the Somnium.
For the above reasons, the Retry function is not available in this Somnium, because the Psyncer is not Date himself.

After Saito checks all the Mental Locks, he smashes the screen showing #89, unlocking the Mental Lock without any action from the player.

When Saito's progress advances to Mental Lock #2, as Date, the objects that the player can investigate are quite limited, only Monitor and Exit. When investigating Monitor, there will be 4 options that do not consume time. After selecting any of them, investigate the Monitor again, a knife will appear on it. Select the new option Investigate Knife, and a new object Psync Room Door will appear nearby. Execute Move to go to the Psync Room. Go to the Psync Machine and perform Investigate on it will have this section finished.
In summary, to finish the progress during Mental Lock #2:
- Any option on Monitor (0s) -> Investigate Knife on Monitor (0s) -> Move on Psync Room Door (60s) -> Investigate on Psync Machine (60s)

After entering Mental Lock #3, the player can only investigate the Psync Machine again, this time with four different options. Just like the Monitor just now, just choose any one. This will make the nearby Door inspectable, and then perform Move, and the player will come to the Chemical Plant.
In summary, to finish the progress during Mental Lock #3:
- Any option on Psync Gear (0s) -> Move on Door (60s)

After entering Mental Lock #4, the player comes to the Dark Room. The only inspectable object here is Pool of Blood, and four options appear on that. However, unlike before, you can only advance progress if you choose Stick Hand In on it. After doing so, the nearby Mirror will become inspectable, with four options appearing on it. Perform Investigate to have this section finished.
In summary, to finish the progress during Mental Lock #4:
- Stick Hand In on Pool of Blood (0s) -> Investigate on Mirror (0s)

After entering Mental Lock #5, the player is no longer able to perform any free actions. After the dialog display ends, only the %s!nk option that appears can be selected. This option will appear three times in a row, and the Psync will end after the three selections are done.

Objects of Interest[]
PSYNCIN' IN THE CHaiN is the most linear Somnium in the game, limiting your interactivity as you progress forward. The Mental Locks in this Somnium are operated by Saito Sejima as he dives deeper into the Psync, so instead, this page measures progress by a set of 11 steps Kaname Date takes as he tries to maneuver through. Additionally, time doesn't progress in this Somnium, and all of the choices are divided into either 0 seconds spent or 60 seconds spent, with a full 360 seconds used by the end of the Somnium. As such, no TIMIEs are featured in this Somnium, as everything is fixed for the player.

Hidden Item[]
- The hidden item appears once you get to the room with the Prototype Psync Machine. It's right next to the Pool Of Blood, hanging from one of the hooks.

- With every Mental Lock cleared, a notification pops up telling the player that they have reached a checkpoint. Despite this, the "Retry" feature is completely disabled in this Somnium, making the checkpoints useless. It could potentially be an aesthetic choice to show that Saito Sejima has reached a checkpoint himself as he progresses deeper into Date's Somnium.
- Information on the save data of this Somnium shows "Psyncer: Saito Sejima", unlike other Somnia that show "Subject."
- The note displayed when acquiring picture to the album is "Day 6: Date A/B", but when flipping through the Album section of FILE, the name is displayed as "Day 6: Saito A/B."
- Description of the achievement obtained by completing this Somnium is also "Cleared Saito's Somnium."
- The animation played after the end of this Somnium is the Game Over animation played after the countdown exhausted in other Somnia, which means that the Psync performed by Saito exceeded 6 minutes. Afterwards, another animation will play after it, indicating Date's personality being swapped to his previous body.
