- -Find Mayumi's Lost Memories!-
- "Reproduce Mayumi's past actions to invoke her lost memories."
- —Somnium description
PSYNCIN' IN THE SUSTaiN is a Somnium based on Matsushita Diner.
It is a Somnium created from Mayumi Matsushita's dream by the Psync Machine. ABIS investigated this Somnium to gain additional information about Mayumi's involvement with the attempted murder of Iris Sagan and Ota Matsushita.
Mental Locks[]
After entering the Somnium, the player begins to rewind time by performing the correct option, start with the first section 2 Months Ago. As time gradually goes backwards, the reachable area of the entire Matsushita Diner will become more and more, and finally all the vacant part will be filled.
The option Calendar. with the option "Today's date is..." on it, is a very useful one throughout the whole Somnium. You can get a positive TIMIE by doing so, and you can get it again after repeating the same action, which only consumes 5s. Taking this action also allows the player to know what time period the Matsushita Diner is in during the current progress.
Mental Lock #1 - "Why...?"[]
During Mental Lock #1, there are a total of objects that can be investigated at this time: Sliding Door, Calendar, Swinging Door and Wall Clock.
Before executing the correct option, first execute Today's date is... on Calendar to get a TIMIE in the shortest time, and then proceed to the first option to advance progress Welcome back! on Sliding Door, with using TIMIE, the consumption time of this option can be effectively shortened.
Then, the section turns to 5 Years Ago, the time of Takero Matsushita's death. New appeared objects are: Phone, Menu, Beer Poster. Find the Phone and select My husband? will unlock Mental Lock #1. Since the last TIMIE is fixed to [50], the best way is to use it here directly, shortening it by 40s. After making the correct selection, the objects will no longer be inspectable.
In summary, to unlock Mental Lock #1:
- Welcome back! on Sliding Door (60s, [50]) My husband? on Phone (90s, 1/2)
A possible optimal path for better TIMIE can be:
- Today's date is... on Calendar (5s, Random) -> Welcome back! on Sliding Door (60s1/2 or strongest 1/n, [30], [20], [10], [50]) My husband? on Phone (90s[50], 1/2)
Mental Lock #2 - "Congrats!"[]
After entering Mental Lock #2, time goes back to 6 Years Ago. The new objects appeared are: Cake, Autograph, Bucket. The unlocking way here is straightforward, you only need to investigate the newly appeared Cake on one of the dining tables and execute the option Congratulations, Ota! and Mental Lock #2 will be unlocked.
At this point, the player can also perform some actions associated with the two achievements. One is to find Bucket and execute Let's wear it. which is one of requirements to obtain "Protect Your Head;" The other is to find Autograph and execute all three options, to obtain "Crazy Awful Customers." The options associated with Autograph all take a long time and may bring negative TIMIE to the player, so it is recommended not to execute them during the progress for clearing the Somnium. After making the correct selection, Cake or Bucket will no longer be inspectable.
In summary, to unlock Mental Lock #2:
- Congratulations, Ota! on Cake (40s, 1/4)
A possible optimal path for better TIMIE can be:
- Congratulations, Ota! on Cake (40s1/2, 1/4)
If the player is also aiming for the "Protect Your Head" achievement:
- Today's date is... on Calendar (5s, Random) -> Let's wear it. on Bucket (80s1/2 or strongest 1/n, [30], [20], [10], Random) -> Congratulations, Ota! on Cake (40s1/2, 1/4)
To obtain the "Crazy Awful Customers" achievement (in any order):
- The left. on Autograph (99s, Random) -> The right. on Autograph (12s, Random) -> The middle. on Autograph (78s, Random)
Mental Lock #3 - "For Ota's dream."[]
After entering Mental Lock #3, time goes back to 7 Years Ago. The only new object appeared is Envelope. Just investigate it on a corner and execute the option Let's do our best. and Mental Lock #3 will be unlocked. Next, constantly executing the correct options can always get a 1/n TIMIE, so there is no need for the player to execute other options to get better TIMIE, or inspect the Calendar to get rid of any negative TIMIE.
In summary, to unlock Mental Lock #3:
- Let's do our best. on Envelope (65s, 1/8)
A possible optimal path for better TIMIE can be:
- Let's do our best. on Envelope (65s1/4, 1/8)
Mental Lock #4 - "Sorry."[]
Entering Mental Lock #4 will have full room of the Matsushita Diner reachable, and time goes back to 15 Years Ago. The only new object appeared is Odoroki-man Sticker. Investigate it on the shelf under the TV and execute the option Chocolate? and Mental Lock #4 will be unlocked.
In summary, to unlock Mental Lock #4:
- Chocolate? on Odoroki-man Sticker (70s, 1/10)
A possible optimal path for better TIMIE can be:
- Chocolate? on Odoroki-man Sticker (70s1/8, 1/10)
Mental Lock #5 - "I will never forget."[]
After entering the last Mental Lock, the player will come to A Dark Place. There only one option here is the Wall Clock. There are two options for players to choose, one is Turn Back Time, which allows the player to return to 15 Years Ago; the other is Advance Time, which can unlock Mental Lock #4. Both consume 100s. To complete the last move, you only need to use 1/10 TIMIE obtained before to reduce the consumption time of Advance Time to 10s.
In summary, to unlock Mental Lock #5:
- Advance Time on Wall Clock (100s, Random)
A possible optimal path for better TIMIE can be:
- Advance Time on Wall Clock (100s1/10, Random)
TIMIE Pools[]
The following are the pools of TIMIEs that spawn during PSYNCIN' IN THE VaiN. Certain choices in the Somnium will drop a random selection of TIMIE from either of these pools, "Pool 1" and "Pool 3".
For Pool 1, during the first 3 minutes, the standard spread of TIMIE values start off with the neutral types of TIMIEs being the most common, the larger TIMIE values just below them, and the smallest and most useful range of TIMIEs at around 5% chance of appearing. From 3 minutes to the last 90 seconds, the large-value TIMIEs, [40] and [50], decrease in probabilty from 18% to 7%, while the best TIMIEs increase from 5% to 22%. In the last 90 seconds, the [50] TIMIE is removed completely, and the best TIMIEs increase from 22% to 38%.

For Pool 3, during the first 3 minutes, the odds of gaining the best TIMIEs are still lower while the weakest TIMIEs retain the highest chance. However, negative TIMIEs are added into the pool, and while 3x, 4x, and 5x TIMIEs have a combined total of 6% chance, the 2x TIMIE has a 17% chance by itself, making it common enough to appear at least once through a Somnium. From 3 minutes to the last 90 seconds, the negative TIMIEs drop considerably, with 3x, 4x, and 5x having a 2.5% chance while x2 has a 4% chance; likewise, the [50] TIMIE drops considerably from 13.5% to 2%, and most of the other TIMIEs increase to rebalance it. By the last 90s, the negative TIMIEs had been shrunk by half, and the more valuable TIMIEs have substantially increased.

These two pools are designed so that, the less time the player has to clear the Somnium, the more likely that they'll obtain useful TIMIEs that can dramatically cut down on the amount of time spent, and the less likely they are at obtaining higher-value TIMIEs or encounter negative TIMIEs.
