The Psync Room and Psync Control Room are locations featured in the Lemniscate YouTube series, AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES, AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES - nirvanA Initiative, and the Spike Chunsoft Shorts. It is partially the real world counterpart to the Somnium world PSYNCIN' IN THE CHaiN.
They are adjacent rooms built inside the Police Headquarters in Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda District, located 6 floors underground as part of the Advanced Brain Investigation Squad's staffing rooms. The rooms house the Psync Machine and acts as Pewter's office of sorts.
Design[]
The Psync Room consists of two separate rooms: the main Psync Room and the Psync Control Room. The rooms are connected by a small L-shaped hallway blocked off by a large door in each room.
The Psync Room is a giant white circular room, which houses the Psync Machine in the middle. The Psyncer's seat lies closest to the exit door, while the Subjects lays farther. Next to the door, there's a large window pane that covers half the room, where the engineer and other investigators can watch from the outer room in to the inner room and observe the Psyncer and subject.
The Psync Control Room is a semi-circular at two elevations. The lower elevation is placed right on the window to the Psync Room, and contains a row of monitors on desks, and about 5 seats that can be used at any time. Most screens remain on to monitor the Psync Machine's status and operations, although a handful of them remain off. Some of these monitors also hang from the ceiling at the corners.
The higher elevation contains railing blocking it off from the lower one, with a handful of steps leading down. This area remains more spacious than the lower elevation, but contains various objects at the walls. By both walls, there are 16 shelves belonging to Pewter, grouped up in 8 each wall, and on top of them are four Braun Tube CRT monitors each. Inside his shelves, Pewter keeps his homoerotic BL manga[1], gay romance novels[1], his koteka jewelry[2], mysterious mushrooms[3], and a bunch of marimos (moth balls)[4]. Next to those are low benches that contain a few binders and papers. On the opposite wall, there are lockers in which a mysterious voice resides[4][3], and the exit door which leads into the rest of ABIS's headquarters.
History[]
Psync Room was first launched in 2013, enabled when Psync Machine was finished. Typically, this is Pewter's main workplace, where Psyncers will Psync into their targets. Most of the time, Boss will also monitor in the Control Room during Psync.
